IELTS Speaking Questions

For scoring high in the IELTS speaking test, preparation of questions, which are frequently asked in the speaking test, can help you to score higher in the speaking test. Make sure to prepare the topics that are asked in questions accordingly to ensure the flow of your speaking and showing how confident you are while discussing a topic that the examiner is going to check. The main target is to check your fluency in English, your punctuation, the grammar, and the vocabulary. Here are the questions to help you achieve a high score.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 Questions

IELTS Speaking Part 1 takes 4–5  twinkles in this part, including the preface and interview. The examiner monitors the introduction of himself/herself and will ask you to introduce yourself, besides attesting your identity. The monitor will ask you general questions on topics like family, studies, work, hobbies, and your interests. Do not memorise the answers; the answers should be natural while you speak in the test. Part 1 is all about your introduction and about your country. The topics include hobbies, personal information, education and work, technology, environment, culture, tradition, health and fitness, and future plans. 

Some examples of Part 1 questions are:

  1. Introduce yourself?
  2. Do you work or study?
  3. What do you study?
  4. Why did you choose this job?
  5. Where is your hometown?
  6. What kind of art do you like?
  7. Is art popular in your country?
  8. Do most people in your country follow fashion?
  9. What is your daily routine?
  10. How much time do you spend with your family?

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Questions

IELTS Speaking Part 2 takes 3-4 minutes that include individual long turns. In this, the examiner will give you a topic that is written on a card, and you will have one minute to prepare a speech on the topic. The card contains some points written on it to prepare your speech within a minute. You will also get the pencil and a paper to write the notes on it so that this will help you to prepare a perfect speech to reach the good score. Once done preparing, you will get one to two minutes to speak on that topic, and questions will be asked by the examiner related to that topic.

Some examples of Part 2 questions are:

  1. Describe a book you have recently read.
  2. Describe a memorable trip you have had.
  3. Describe an art you like the most.
  4. Describe a gift you recently gave to someone.
  5. Describe a useful website.
  6. Describe a language you have learnt.
  7. Describe some good news you recently received.
  8. Describe a photograph you like.
  9. Describe a sport you would like to learn.
  10. Talk about a person who has inspired you.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 Questions

IELTS Speaking Part 3 takes 4-5 minutes that include two-way discussion in which the examiner will ask more questions related to that topic that you already spoke in Part 2. The examiner will judge your speaking abilities on the basis of this criteria.

Some examples of Part 3 questions are:

  1. What makes a good painting?
  2. Do you think paper books will disappear some day?
  3. What are popular small businesses in your country?
  4. Are modern celebrities different from celebrities a few decades ago?
  5. What does it take for a business to be successful?
  6. What popular traditions do you have in your country?
  7. How has teaching changed in your country in the last few decades?
  8. Is pollution a problem in your country?
  9. What role do grandparents play in the family in your country?
  10. Do most people have computers at home in your country?
